Pokhara, July 11: Tours and Travels began Pokhara-Delhi friendly bus shuttle today.
The bus service was jointly launched by Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae.The Modern Era Travels and the Uttarpradesh Transportation Corporation of India are operating the bus service jointly.
On the occasion, Minister Basnet said it was very significant for Pokhara to have direct bus shuttle to Delhi. It would also boost the two country relations, he added.
Similarly, Ambassador Rae said with the facility of bus service between Pokhara and Delhi, thetourists visiting Pokhara would also extend their travel to other places as Muktinath and the Annupurna region which would augment tourism in Nepal.
Chairman of the Travels Keshav Prasad Adhikari said the people from various sectors are expected to draw benefits from the direct bus service to the Indian capital.

The first direct bus service between Pokhara and New Delhi, South Asia's two important cities, was flagged off by Nepal Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet and India's ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae yesterday from Pokhara.
The two countries had signed a Motor Vehicle Agreement during the visit paid by Modi to Nepal in November, 2014.
After the signing of the agreement, regular buses are being plied from Kathmandu-New Delhi, Kathmandu-Varanasi and Mahendranagar-Delhi and vice versa.
As per the decision made in the Motor Vehicle Agreement, a new bus service between Pokhara and New Delhi was proposed by the Uttar Pradesh State Road transport CorporationBSE 4.99 % (UPSRTC).
Accordingly, a team of officers from UPSRTC visited Nepal in the month of May this year for discussing and finalising the modalities of the proposed bus service between Pokhara and Delhi.

The bus service is a joint initiative of the Modern Era Tours and Travels Pvt Ltd of Nepal and Uttar Pradesh Parivahan Nigam, Ghaziabad depot, of India.

POKHARA: Direct bus service from Pokhara to New Delhi in India has started from Monday.
The bus service is a joint initiative of the Modern Era Tours and Travels Pvt Ltd of Nepal and Uttar Pradesh Parivahan Nigam, Ghaziabad depot, of India.
Home minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet from Nepal and Indian Ambassador for Nepal Ranjit Rae jointly inaugurated the service at a special function in the Lake City today.
Altogether eight deluxe buses, four from each side, have started the operation.
Nepal’s the then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 had signed an agreement to launch such joint bus services.
The bus fare has been fixed at NRs 3,500 (IRs 2,200), informed Keshav Adhikari at the Pokhara-based travel company.
Jun 16, 2016- Direct bus services are scheduled to start between Pokhara and the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on July 11.
PK Bose, regional manager of Uttar Pradesh Transport Management of India, and Keshav Prasad Adhikari, chairman of Modern Era Tours and Travels, have signed an agreement to operate services that are expected to boost tourism between the two countries.
Nepali and Indian transport ministers will formally inaugurate the bus service in Pokhara. Bus permits will be issued by the respective governments as per the agreement made between Nepal and India in 2014.
Speaking after signing the accord, representatives from both the sides said that the bus service would help to boost tourism. “It will help to boost tourism in both the countries,” Bose said. Adhikari said the regular bus service would greatly benefit the tourism industry in Pokhara.
Buses ply the route presently, but the service is irregular and operators are facing a lot of difficulties.
The bus fare has been fixed at IRs2,200 for the 1,300-km journey. Buses will leave from Ananda Bihar in Uttar Pradesh and Pokhara on Nepal on a daily basis. The two sides have agreed to increase the frequency if required in the future.
Direct bus services are available between Delhi-Kathmandu.

Minister for Home Affairs Shakti Bahadur Basnet and India ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae jointly flagged off the New Delhi-bound bus from Pokhara amid a function on Monday.
The bus service has been started in line with the Motor Vehicle Agreement that two governments signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Nepal visit in November, 2014, according to a press release issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
Under the agreement, the two countries have already been operating buses on Kathmandu-New Delhi, Kathmandu-Varanasi and Mahendranagar- New Delhi sectors and vice versa. Busfare has been fixed at Rs 3,500 (IRs 2,200).
These services have been very well received by the people of Nepal and India, the release added.
Under the Motor Vehicle Agreement, a new bus service between Pokhara and New Delhi was proposed by the Uttar Pradesh State Road transport Corporation (UPSRTC). Accordingly, a team of officers from UPSRTC visited Nepal in May for discussing and finalizing the modalities of the proposed bus service between Pokhara and New Delhi. Subsequently a formal agreement between UPSRTC and Modern Era Tours and Travels, Nepal was signed in June to start the bus service.
The new bus service will provide a link between the lake city and the Indian capital. “As lot of people from India visit Pokhara every year, there was a long pending demand from the people to start this route. The start of regular bus service between New Delhi and Pokhara will improve connectivity, further enhance people to people contact and further strengthen the multi-dimensional ties between India and Nepal,” the release added.
It further said that the bus service will also have an extremely positive impact on the tourism industry of Nepal, particularly in Pokhara.

Under the agreement, the two countries have already been operating buses on Kathmandu-New Delhi, Kathmandu-Varanasi and Mahendranagar- New Delhi sectors and vice versa. Busfare has been fixed at Rs 3,500 (IRs 2,200).
These services have been very well received by the people of Nepal and India, the release added.
Under the Motor Vehicle Agreement, a new bus service between Pokhara and New Delhi was proposed by the Uttar Pradesh State Road transport Corporation (UPSRTC). Accordingly, a team of officers from UPSRTC visited Nepal in May for discussing and finalizing the modalities of the proposed bus service between Pokhara and New Delhi. Subsequently a formal agreement between UPSRTC and Modern Era Tours and Travels, Nepal was signed in June to start the bus service.
The new bus service will provide a link between the lake city and the Indian capital. “As lot of people from India visit Pokhara every year, there was a long pending demand from the people to start this route. The start of regular bus service between New Delhi and Pokhara will improve connectivity, further enhance people to people contact and further strengthen the multi-dimensional ties between India and Nepal,” the release added.
It further said that the bus service will also have an extremely positive impact on the tourism industry of Nepal, particularly in Pokhara.
